For the first time in Austin Texas and its greater area, we had our first formal dinner and dance organised by new and present SLAGA commitee for the year 2010. With an estimated at first to 150 people which finally grew to 210. With a large amount of good reviews we had several different talents. A light rock Austin band called CHANEY started the show off. Followed by dance and siging performances by  BOLLYWOOD SHAKE. We then had one of the best meal plans to date. Srilankan appetizers (short eats) at each table were served, with the full Srilankan course buffet opened at the same time including desert catered by East West Caters. After a great meal, we followed by Srilankan Sinhala kapirinya music and a baila competition. The music continued with the DJ Jay  sounding off and the live music group performances by Raju/Don and Co.continued till the wee hours of the night. We had several raffles and competitions throughout the night. The open bar definitely helped loosen up all our friends. Normally a dinner dance such as this with an open bar would be over 100 in Texas but for 15 dollars, this was done through the generous contributions of many Srilankans in the community and sponsors including funds from the SLAGA account. We had a good number  of volunteers who helped throughout the event. All the raffle items were donated. We had a great flyer, website protal and ticket design to begin the present the event to begin. We would like to thank all of you who came and made this event a very successful one.
